In the men's 1500 metres freestyle finals of the 2011 Swimming World Championships at Shanghai,  the Chinese contestant Sun Yang led the way and won with 14 minutes and 34   seconds to14. He broke the world record which remained for 10 years by Hackett, and won double in the current world championships, which created an unprecedented history of the Chinese men's swimming, and no doubt became the first one of the Chinese men's swimming.
