The 14th FINA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS was opened on 16 of July in Shanghai.  

The opening ceremony was held in Shanghai East Sports Center on the night of 16 of July. IOC president Jacques Rogge and OCA President Ahmed took part in the opening ceremony.
